Joerger Praises Cousins' Approach as Kings Prep for Celtics

Following a back-to-back set with Brooklyn and Washington, an unexpected postponement in Philadelphia earned the team an extra night of rest.

Sacramento hit the practice court on Thursday afternoon at Northeastern University in Boston, hoping to get back on track with a victory in Massachusetts. Kings Coach Dave Joerger conducted a 90-minute practice at the university, speaking about the session shortly thereafter.

“We just wanted to get some work in and break a sweat,” said Joerger. “We had a day off after a back-to-back, and yesterday we had a shootaround. So tonight, we came out to work and to keep our timing up.”

Not many players in the League have been more dominant than Kings center DeMarcus Cousins. The talented big man has tallied four-consecutive 30-plus point contests, matching a franchise streak last reached 15 years ago by Chris Webber. While Joerger has coached Cousins for just a few months, he’s already seen tremendous growth in the All-Star.

“He gets credit for his talent and he gets credit that he’s improved in the League,” said the Kings head coach. “I don’t think he gets enough credit for his approach to the game and the way he carries and conducts himself – those have greatly improved. The way he goes about his business is very positive.”

Cousins and the Kings will take the floor on Friday at 4:30 pm versus the Boston Celtic. Coverage will available on CSN California, Sports 1140 KHTK radio and the Kings + Golden 1 Center app.
