As track and field Olympians who both call Sacramento home, Kate Grace and Kim Conley are raising the bar for their sport. Grace competed in her first Olympiad this past summer in Rio, while Conley ran in her second.
The two have fought through thick and thin to rise among the ranks of female track and field athletes. They’ve faced their fair share of doubters, yet they continue to persevere to achieve the goals in their chosen profession.
“I had that fire inside to prove people wrong and it was a really empowering thing,” shared Grace to Golden1Center.com.
Conley shared similar feelings on her rise through the professional ranks: “It’s about focusing on the process and making myself better, and not really worrying what anyone else’s estimation is.”
They continue to be role models for young women, blazing their path despite questions from others. For girls aspiring to chase their dreams, they both have advice that have taken them far.
“I would say I think the biggest thing is finding something you love and having fun with the process,” Grace said.
Conley also agreed, stating that There should be “a foundation of love for what you do and your desire to be out there (that) is rooted in that.”
Both continue their advancements in the sport, with each hoping to qualify for the 2020 games in Tokyo. The two athletes are continuing to enjoy the process leading up to the next Olympics, including all the challenges.
