Rudy Gay and Ben McLemore combined to score 45 points, including a combined 6-for-8 from beyond the arc as the Kings ran away from the New York Knicks on Tuesday night.
Coming out of the gates on fire, Sacramento used a 15-0 second quarter burst to extend the team’s lead to 30 and put the game all but out of reach early.
The Kings starting lineup outscored the Knicks 77-24 en route to its largest margin of victory against New York at MSG in the Sacramento-era.
"Even in our last two games I thought we had our moments,” head coach George Karl said following the win, "but tonight I thought we expanded that for a balance of being a good defensive team and a good offensive team."
After missing the previous two games due to injury, DeMarcus Cousins made a splash returning to the starting lineup. The All-Star tallied his 35th double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
With the win, Sacramento snapped a 4-game losing streak on the road and swept the series with the Knicks for the first time since the 2009-10 season.
- Two of the Kings 3 top-scoring games this season are against the Knicks.
- Six Kings (Cousins - 22, Gay - 25, McLemore - 20, Williams - 17, Casspi - 14 and Stauskas - 15) scored in double-figures.
- Nik Stauskas tied a career-high in points with 15.
- Jason Thompson tied Mitch Richmond (517 games) for second on the career list for games played in the Sacramento era.
