Rudy Propels Kings Past Bucks

Sans DeMarcus Cousins and Ben McLemore, the Kings were in need of an offensive spark to replace their two starters’ offensive contributions.

Rudy Gay, Marco Belinelli and Rajon Rondo stepped up to the task.

Through three quarters, the teams stood at a 74-74 tie, with 11 lead changes and 10 ties taking place throughout 36 minutes. Sacramento had shot just 5-of-18 from three-point range and allowed its opposition to shoot 48 percent from the field through three frames.

Belinelli, who replaced McLemore in the starting lineup, was 0-of-5 from long range at the time.

The fourth quarter proved to be an entirely different game, as the purple and black hit 4-of-8 three-point attempts, with two coming from the Italian sharpshooter, who scored 10 of his 18 points in the final 12 minutes.

Sactown went on to score 37 points in the frame, and netted their first win in five games thanks to the inspired effort.

“I think it was great – ball movement, fourth quarter I believe we only had one turnover. We moved the ball well and we were cautious about it, made the right pass, people made shots and it was beautiful,” said Gay on the squad’s win.

  • No. 8 recorded his third 30-point of the season, and ended with 32 points, nine rebounds and six assists on the night.
  • Rondo’s 4-of-4 three-point performance marked a season-high for threes in a game.
  • The efforts of Willie Cauley-Stein and Kosta Koufos on the boards aided the team in outrebounding Milwaukee by a margin of 53-37. The frontcourt duo combined for 21 rebounds.

The Kings will finish their short two-game homestand on Wednesday night against the Chicago Bulls. Fans wishing to view the game can tune in via CSN California or KHTK SPORTS 1140 AM.
