Preview: Kings (0-0) at Suns (0-0)

After weeks of preparation, the regular season has finally arrived for the Sacramento Kings. Tonight, they tip off their 2016-17 campaign on the road with a matchup against the Phoenix Suns.

Last year, the Kings had the Suns number, winning the season series 3-1. Sacramento split both contests on the road, winning 105-101 against Phoenix in their last meeting of 2015-16. Dating back to last year, the Kings have won three straight against their Pacific Division rivals and hope to keep that streak alive tonight.

The Suns enter the new year following a strong preseason, finishing with a 4-2 record. The Suns carry an intriguing mix of veteran and young talent on their roster. Tyson Chandler, Jared Dudley and Leandro Barbosa all bring playoff experience to a team that hasn’t made the postseason in seven years. Meanwhile, Phoenix youngsters like Devin Booker, who cracked the top five in scoring this preseason, expect to make their mark this season.

Key Matchup

The battle at two-guard will be one to watch in this season opener for both teams. Arron Afflalo brings a lockdown mentality to the defensive end. The veteran Kings guard will surely have some tricks up his sleeve facing off against Booker, who is only entering his second year in the League.

Projected Starters

Ty Lawson, Afflalo, Rudy Gay, Kosta Koufos and DeMarcus Cousins are projected to start this regular season opener for the Kings.

Broadcast Information

The game will be televised on Comcast SportsNet California. Kings fans can also tune into all the action on Sports 1140 KHTK Radio and the Kings + Golden 1 Center App. Be sure to also follow Kings.com with live updates and postgame content on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
