Kings Stifled by Hawks in First Round

An impressive 11-point first quarter from Duje Dukan helped Sacramento get off to a quick start against Atlanta in the opening round of the Summer League tournament on Wednesday.

Led by Dukan, the squad shot nearly 47 percent from the field while holding the Hawks to just 31 percent in the opening frame. However, Sacramento struggled to hold on to the ball, turning it over 15 times in the first half, leading to a five-point deficit at the break.

The tale of two halves continued for the purple and black as Sactown connected on just 8 of its final 33 attempts, scoring 24 points in the second half. Meanwhile, Atlanta went 13-of-28 in the same timeframe, earning a 81-61 victory.

Isaiah Cousins made his Summer League debut and recorded six assists, three rebounds and two points in 21 minutes of play. Cousins distributed the ball well in his first on-court action, navigating pick and rolls well alongside big men Willie Cauley-Stein and Georgios Papagiannis. Papagiannis ended the afternoon with six points and five rebounds, also displaying impressive defensive help at times.

Skal Labissiere continued his impressive Summer League, tallying nine points, five rebounds and three blocks in 23 minutes of action.

The Kings final Summer League game will take place on Friday afternoon at Cox Pavillion versus the San Antonio Spurs.
