Kings Begin #NewEraOfProud

As the page turns to a new chapter in Sacramento Kings history, the franchise has now also debuted a fresh look to go along with it.

An assortment of fans, media, and Kings personnel gathered in front of Golden 1 Center Tuesday morning as the team revealed brand new logos to usher the squad into their new home in October.

“This brand kicks off new era for our franchise as we move into most technologically-advanced arena in the world,” said Kings Chairman Vivek Ranadivé.

Those in attendance were also treated to a sneak peak inside Golden 1 Center as it grows closer to completion. A small section of the main concourse was opened to get a glimpse at the future home of the Kings, as well a banner celebrating the reveal of the latest logos.

“Entering this new era, it felt like the right time to do something big,” said ESPN Fan Hall of Fame Inductee Barbara Rust, affectionately known by Sacramento fans as Sign Lady. “It was overwhelming. I almost couldn’t believe I was standing there looking at this. It’s just completely amazing.”

“I came here expecting to maybe take a tour [of Golden 1 Center], but I didn’t realize that something this special was happening,” said longtime Kings fan Alfred Avalos. “It’s incredible and mind-blowing to see the new look and I’m honored to be here.”

Players past and present also chimed in on the changes.

“It’s simple and sweet - it’s going to look smooth,” said Kings center Willie Cauley-Stein. “When we finally get to put [the jerseys] on, it’s going to be special because we’re all going to remember the first day that we put them on in [Golden 1 Center], so I can’t wait.”

“This is great to be here and a part of this vision with the unveiling of the new logos,” said former Kings guard and 2002-03 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award winner Bobby Jackson. “You see the love and the support from the fans and the city taking pride in all of this.”

While the fans and the organization bid a bittersweet farewell to Sleep Train Arena to end the 2015-16 campaign, the future continues to look bright for basketball in Sacramento heading into an exciting 2016-17 season.
