Could Kings See Two All-Stars in 2016?

Following DeMarcus Cousins’ first career All-Star selection last season, The Kings big man surely hopes to repeat that feat this year, but he might not be the only member of the Kings suiting up for the Western Conference team in 2016.

Cousins enjoyed a dominant campaign in 2014-15, where he was also recognized as a member of the All-NBA Second Team. Ty Windisch of A Royal Pain Kings Blog considers the Kings center to be a strong All-Star candidate once again and also discussed the potential of another Kings player making the cut.

“It will take the best season of Rudy Gay’s career and a huge voting campaign by Kings fans, but I think there’s a shot Rudy makes the team,” wrote Windisch.

The article suggested the forward position could be a bit more open this year, with the age of some Western Conference All-Star regulars playing a factor.

“Dirk and Duncan are both exceptionally old for All-Stars,” adds Windisch. So Sacramento’s own star forward could very well be among the small pool of forwards and be selected to his first All-Star game.

Gay landed 10th in Western Conference voting for forwards last season, a season in which he finished with career-high averages in points (21.1 per game) and assists (3.7 per game).
