Bighorns Update: Best in the West

February 9th, 2016

After battling and working their way up the standings in the first half of the season, the Reno Bighorns have now moved into the top position in the D-League’s Western Conference.

The playoffs are drawing near with just 20 regular season games left on the schedule for the Kings affiliate, who will look to lock down the number one spot in the West heading into the postseason.

Bighorns Outrun Stampede

Reno leaped into first place by claiming back-to-back home victories over the Idaho Stampede last week.

Bighorns guard David Stockton led the way for the first triumph, collecting a season-high 31 points to go with six rebounds and five assists in the team’s 126-103 lopsided win.

Coming up big in the second victory was Reno forward Vince Hunter, who dropped 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Bighorns downed the Stampede once again, 117-105.

This pair of wins extended the Kings affiliate’s winning streak to four games and improved their record to 8-2 in the last 10 contests.

Ledo Gets All-Star Nod

While former Reno guard Erick Green was initially selected to participate in the NBA D-League All-Star game, his recent call up to the Utah Jazz meant someone would need to take his spot.

Green, who recently signed his second 10-day contract with Utah last week, will now be replaced by his former Bighorns teammate Ricky Ledo.

The former Dallas Mavericks and New York Knicks guard is averaging 20.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game on the season and will be joining his Reno teammate Vince Hunter in the All-Star contest this upcoming Saturday.

Also representing the Kings affiliate this weekend will be guard Reggie Hearn, who will be participating in the Three-Point Contest prior to the All-Star game. Hearn is averaging 2.7 three-pointers made per game and is shooting 45 percent from beyond the arc this season.
