  • Henry Turner

Having played professional basketball for 15 years—including two seasons with the Sacramento Kings—Turner has brought true NBA knowledge and experience to the Junior Kings players since he joined the program in 2014. He earned two MVP and scoring awards while playing in Europe, all while cultivating the leadership and skills to parlay his playing experience into a successful NBA broadcasting career after retiring in 2002. When he’s not overseeing the trainers and coaches for the Junior Kings program or recording the pre and post game Kings show on KHTK 1140, you can catch him spending time with his three children, Khendel, EJ, and Khendra.

    Ruthie Bolton

Ruthie Bolton is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, and the original franchise player for the Sacramento Monarchs WNBA team. She has scored over 2,000 career points and is 4th on the WNBA’s all-time 3-pointer list. Bolton is the only player in the history of the Monarchs to have her jersey number retired and Junior Kings players get to develop on the same court that Ruthie used as she rose to fame. She’s been on the cover of Sports Illustrated, a guest on Live with Regis and Kelly and Late Night with David Letterman, and starred in a Nike commercial, but when she’s coaching the Junior Kings she sees it as her job to ensure that the kids feel like the stars.

    Morgan Ragan

Morgan Ragan has played basketball all her life, playing on the varsity team all four years in high school, winning 1st team All-League three of her four years and helping the team win the only Women’s Basketball League Title in school history. She continued to play for two years in college and through injuries proceeded to play in the San Francisco Pro Am League. Ragan brings all of that experience and enthusiasm to her role as a Junior Kings coach, where she especially loves to see kids find self-empowerment through gaining confidence on the basketball court. When she’s not coaching basketball, she’s usually talking about basketball as a co-host on The Deuce and Mo Podcast, a Northern California sports podcast that broadcasts live five-days a week on Youtube, iTunes, and PodBean. Ragan also works for the Sacramento Kings as a social media contributor where she interviews players, coaches and personalities and puts together videos for the website.

    Charles Doss

Charles Doss, aka “Coach Doss,” grew up as an outstanding multi-sport athlete who went on to play college football, but his love was always sharing his enthusiasm for team sports with kids. He started coaching youth basketball as a way to give back to his community and now has over 20 years of experience coaching a wide variety of youth training programs and NBA camps. His time with kids on the court has taught him the value of coaching the whole player, leading him to begin running clinics throughout the Sacramento Region with “Center Court,” a program designed to give kids tools to succeed both on and off the basketball court. Coach Doss has been coaching Junior Kings since 2014 and says the best part of the job is “the opportunity to do what I love, working with the Jr. NBA program and encouraging kids from all over.”

    Niko Williams

As a child growing up in Mobile, Alabama, all Niko Williams wanted to do was get to high school so he could play on the basketball team. He enjoyed a successful basketball career during his four years at John L. Leflore High School and went on to The University of Alabama where he earned his degree in Kinesiology. During college he worked as a practice player for the women’s basketball team and interned as an assistant coach for Central High School in Tuscaloosa Alabama, furthering his understanding not just of the technical aspects of the game but of the pedagogical methods necessary for coaching players across a variety of backgrounds and experience levels. After college Williams moved to Sacramento to pursue his dream of one day being a coach in the NBA, a dream that infuses his role with the Junior Kings with passion and focus.

    Khendrick (EJ) Turner

Khendrick (EJ) Turner has been playing basketball his entire life. Growing up in Sacramento, he attended Folsom High and Cordova High, followed by Sacramento City College. Turner has loved being a part of the Junior Kings Program since his start in 2015 and enjoys sharing his passion for the game. His favorite part of being involved with the Junior Kings is working out with the kids and seeing them improve, whether it be in a three-hour clinic or multi-day camp.
