The Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Skills Challenge, sponsored by SINGULAIR, is a free competition for boys and girls ages 7-14 to showcase his or her passing, dribbling and shooting skills. Each child competes separately and may compete in three levels of competition (local, regional, national). Age groups consist of 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, with the child's age is determined as of May 31 of the next calendar year. This year's Skills Challenge competitions took place in 25 NBA cities.

Since December 1, more than 52,000 youngsters across the United States have competed in the inaugural Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Skills Challenge sponsored by SINGULAIR. Out of the 52,000 participants, more than 800 advanced to the Regional level. On May 16, the top 24 Finalists competed in the National Finals in Orlando. At the local level, All youngsters MUST first compete in a local competition to be eligible for the regional and national competitions. The champion in each age and gender group has the opportunity to advance to the Regional Competition. With that said, the first place local champion does not automatically advance to the respective regional competition. (All local champions will be notified by the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Skills Challenge Headquarters as to their advancement.) This year's local competitions took place from December 1, 2007 to March 1, 2008.

The regional competitions took place during March and April 2008, where the youngster had his or her time ranked nationally. The top three (3) finishers in each age and gender group advanced to the National Finals. Check out what each finalist had to say about their experience!
