Dribbling – Sue Bird

It is so important to know how to dribble. Growing up playing basketball I knew it was one of the first skills I needed to perfect so that I could have the chance to play in high school, college and the pros.

You need to know how to dribble well to be a good all around player. It gets you from place to place on the basketball court when your team is on offense. When you’re bouncing the ball in the driveway or in the gym at school always try to use proper techniques. Keep your head up and your eyes looking forward.

It is important to see the entire basketball floor while dribbling and don’t forget to use your fingertips, not the palm of your hand. Practice with your preferred hand and then try your weaker hand. Keep at it until you can dribble equally with both hands. Work hard at it, have fun and don’t forget that practice makes perfect!
