This summer, Discover Card will assemble young basketball players across the country and ask them to represent their hometown in the Home Court Challenge. They’ll be playing for fun, they’ll be playing for pride, and ultimately, they’ll be playing for a new basketball court for their city!
The Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Discover Card Home Court Challenge will take place from August 5 – August 27, taking place at WNBA practice facilities or arenas. An estimated 50-100 kids per market will compete in the competition. Activities include Basketball Fundamentals and Drills, a timed Skills Competiton for two age divisions, and an autograph session with WNBA players, legends, and coaches who will be in attendance. Following each event, average scores will be posted online.
One prize will be awarded per age bracket (9-to-11 year olds and 12-to-14 year olds) to the team with the best average time-score - there will be two Team Prizes in total. The Grand Prize will be awarded to the city with the best average team time-score. The WNBA will work with the city’s respective team to determine the community center that receives the refurbished court.
