Portland Tournament - Recap

The Hoop - Beaverton, OR

Facility - 4 courts; huge one-room facility with maple wood floors; plenty of seating for fans. (Facility actually has 6 full courts, but only 4 were used for the event)

Participation – 8 boys and 8 girls teams. All teams arrived well ahead of schedule. Participating leagues: Mt. Hood YMCA, Portland P&R, B&GC of SW Oregon, Kidsports, City of Salem P&R, Salvation Army B&GC, Ridgefield Community Education

Girls Champion: Kidsports - Springfield
Boys Champion: Kidsports - South Eugene Ballers
Girls Consolation: Portland P&R - Jackson Hotshots
Boys Consolation: Salvation Army

Attendance – 200+ fans in attendance throughout the day; fans for the girls semi-final game were fanatic, but in control - boys championship game came down to the last possession.

Team Support – The Trailblazers provided team folders, posters and hats for distribution to the players. They also distributed ticket and camp information. Kevin Duckworth made a brief appearance and signed a few autographs.

Referees – Excellent veteran crew - all officials were on time. We had several compliments on our staff of officials.

The gym was decorated with Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA and Gatorade Championship Series banners. All team benches were chair backed with Gatorade chair backs and had Gatorade for all players and coaches. Each team received a Gatorade gift bag including Gatorade squeeze bottles and Gatorade energy bars.
