Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA, presented by Gatorade and Nike, serves existing recreational youth basketball leagues through support programs for players, coaches, parents and officials.
Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA programs emphasize fundamental skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship and positive adult participation in a fun and rewarding youth basketball experience where young players can create a bond with the game while learning what it takes to be successful away from the court.
Since December 1st, over 52,000 youngsters across the United States have competed in the inaugural Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Skills Challenge sponsored by SINGULAIR. Out of the 52,000, over 800 advanced to the Regional level. On May 16th, the top 24 Finalists competed in the National Finals in Orlando.

2008 Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Pledge to be a S.T.A.R Summer Camps!
The 2008 Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Summer Camps will tip off on June 17th and travel to twelve (12) markets which include Cedar Rapids, Boise, Grand Rapids, Windsor, Charleston, Raleigh, Provo, Phoenix, Providence, Baltimore, Wilmington and Spokane. NBA and WNBA players and legends will lead 250 local Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA members at each camp and take part in a fun filled day of basketball fundamentals, competitive games, pledge to be a S.T.A.R discussions and an emphasis on the importance of health and fitness.

Jr. NBA Philippines makes first official visit to United States!
On April 12th, (5) players from the Jr. NBA Philippines traveled to Oakland, California in their first official visit to the U.S.! This unique group of youngsters had the opportunity to tour many San Francisco landmarks as well as attend a clinic with the Golden State Warriors, tour the Oracle Arena, meet & greet with Warrior players' and attend the Warrior's game that night.

Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Regional Skills Competitions sponsored by SINGULAIR!
The Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Regional Skills Competitions finished up this past weekend. Over 50,000 youngsters have competed in Local Competitions across the 25 participating NBA markets. Each Local Champion will have his/her time compared to the other Local Champions within that specific NBA team market and the top four (4) finishers in each age and gender group will compete at the Regional Competition. A total of 32 children competed at each Regional Competition, and also received a Skills Challenge T-Shirt, two (2) tickets to an NBA game and a Regional Competition plaque. Most Regional Competitions were held at the Local NBA team’s arena or practice facility, and the top eight (8) Regional Champions at each Regional Competition will be recognized on court during a pre-game or half-time ceremony.
**Note: All Regional Competition Champions will have their times compared nationally to the other 24 NBA team market Regional Competition Champions to determine the top three (3) finishers in each age and gender group advancing to the National Finals, which will be held in Orlando, Florida in May 2008. Also, all Regional Competition Champions will be notified by the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Skills Challenge Headquarters as to their advancement.

between December 2007 and March 2008.

The Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA annual Launch event took place in Orlando, FL on the Orlando Magic practice court at the RDV Sports Complex on December 1st. To tip off this season and the first ever Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Skills Challenge Sponsored by SINGULAIR, over 400 kids participated in the first of 250+ local competitions across the United States. Winners will have the opportunity to advance to Regional Championships and then to a National Finals back in Orlando in May! Former NBA Star Nick Anderson was on hand from 9:30-12:00 signing autographs!

Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA National Team Victorious for New Orleans!
Five boys and five girls were selected to represent the more than 830,000 Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA members as the 2007-08 Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA National Team. The group were honored guests at the 57th NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans, LA. The showcase event for the National Team took place on Sunday, Feb. 17, when the squad defeated a team of local New Orleans Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA All-Stars on Center Court of NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas at the Ernest N. Every year (5) Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Players from each NBA/WNBA market are selected to the All-Regional team. From there the top 5 boys and 5 girls are selected to the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA National Team where they will represent the program at NBA All-Star 2008 in New Orleans.

2007 Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA UK BBaLL Player of the Year Announced!
The 2007 Jr. NBA Player of the Year for the BBaLL Programme is Dan L.
The 5'2" Point Guard from Hayesbrook Basketball Club in Tonbridge (pictured) was presented with the award at a recent practice session by members of the Better Basketball and Lifetime Learning (BBaLL) Team.
Dan began playing basketball two years ago and won the award based on his performances while playing in an older age group for his club.
This season he's made the move from Shooting Guard to Point Guard in an effort to involve his team mates more and improve on his passing and ball handling skills.

Jr. NBA Japan makes 2nd trip to United States!
For the second year in row the Jr. NBA Japan Team made a visit to New York this past weekend. Their visit included a tour of the NBA TV Studio and sightseeing around New York City. The team also practiced at the IZOD Center in NJ with special guest, 5-time NBA Champion Ron Harper and attended the Charlotte Bobcats and New Jersey Nets game. The team finished up their trip playing two friendly games against NY/NJ All-Stars at the Nets Practice facility, and were victorious in both!
The Jr. WNBA Clinic Series presented by Discover Card is underway. The clinic has traveled to Houston, Detroit, Sacramento, Connecticut, Chicago and Indiana. It will continue in Phoenix on November 29th, San Antonio on December 3rd, Minnesota on December 5th, Seattle on December 8th, LA on December 11 and our final clinic of the 2007 series will take place on December 15th in Washington DC.
