Utah Jazz and Mountain America Credit Union “Pass It Along” to South Davis Community Hospital

SALT LAKE CITY (January 16, 2015) – The Utah Jazz and Mountain America Credit Union today announced South Davis Community Hospital in Bountiful as this season’s third recipient of “Pass It Along,” a program featuring fan nomination opportunities that will award a total of $25,000 to five local charitable organizations. The program is part of Mountain America and the Utah Jazz’s shared commitment to community outreach.   In recognition of its significant and ongoing contributions to local residents, South Davis Community Hospital will be presented with a $5,000 donation during the Jazz home game on Jan. 16. Utah Jazz forward/center Derrick Favors and Mountain America Executive Vice President Marshall Paepke will help present the check to the organization. As part of the program, Jazz Bear and team officials recently visited South Davis Community Hospital, where he was hosted by SDCH administrators and Bountiful Mayor Randy Lewis to learn first-hand about the nonprofit’s efforts, take a tour of the facility and spend time with some of the hospital’s patients. “South Davis Community Hospital is privileged to have partners like Mountain America Credit Union and the Utah Jazz who are so dedicated to making an impact in our community,” said David Bland, President and CEO of South Davis Community Hospital. “Our greatest reward comes from watching our patients achieve optimal healing and independence as a result of our specialty hospital services. The ‘Pass it Along’ contribution will greatly benefit the individuals and families we serve as they overcome the challenges of chronic illnesses and life altering accidents.”    South Davis Community Hospital has been a pioneer in specialty care for more than 35 years, offering expertise in complex pediatric and adult respiratory therapy services. SDCH also operates Orchard Cove, a therapeutic orthopaedic rehabilitation facility; Barton Creek assisted living; and South Davis Home Health & Hospice. SDCH was recently recognized by the American Health Care Association as a recipient of the Gold – Excellence in Quality Award, for superior performance. Fans are being asked to help select the organizations via an online nomination process. By logging on to www.utahjazz.com/passitalong, fans may nominate local charitable groups that they feel go above and beyond to give back to the community. One winner is announced each month through March 2015. In addition to receiving a $5,000 donation, every organization selected as a “Pass It Along” recipient is treated to special visit from the Utah Jazz, tickets to an upcoming game and in-arena recognition.
