Utah Ford Dealerships to Present $17,150 Donation to Lone Survivor Foundation at Jazz Game

SALT LAKE CITY (April 14, 2014) – The Utah Jazz and Utah Ford dealerships joined forces this season to support military veterans and their families. For every blocked shot by the Jazz during the 2013-14 season, Utah Ford dealerships donated $50 to the Lone Survivor Foundation. Through this collaborative effort, led by top Jazz shot blockers Derrick Favors, Jeremy Evans and Enes Kanter, Ford will present $17,150 to the non-profit organization during halftime of the Jazz home game against the Lakers on April 14.

Bill Barnes, general manager of Performance Ford and vice president of the Mountain States Ford Dealers Association, will be on hand to present the check to Chief John A. Wester, a local veteran who served this country for more than 40 years. The Murray native served several tours of duty within three of this nations’ military services -- the Naval Reserves, the Marine Corps and the Utah National Guard -- and will accept the donation on behalf of the Lone Survivor Foundation.

The Lone Survivor Foundation was founded in 2010 by Petty Officer Marcus Luttrell, whose own first-hand experiences as a returning veteran compelled him to establish a place where fellow service members may go for post-combat recovery. The Lone Survivor Foundation restores, empowers and renews hope for wounded service members and their families through health, wellness and therapeutic support.
