PERRIN NAMED DIRECTOR OF PLAYER PERSONNEL FOR JAZZ

Salt Lake City --- Utah Jazz Vice President of Basketball Operations Kevin O'Connor announced today that Walt Perrin has been named Director of Player Personnel for the club.
Perrin comes to Utah after spending the last nine seasons with the Detroit Pistons and the last five years as the club's Director of Scouting. He joined the Pistons in 1992 as the Director of Scouting, a position he held for one year, before working for two seasons as an assistant coach under Head Coach Don Chaney. He returned to the scouting area in the summer of 1995 to head up Detroit's player personnel operations.
Prior to joining the Pistons, Perrin spent two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he helped develop the roster for the expansion Timberwolves.
A Northern Illinois University graduate, Perrin began his career as the head coach of NIU's junior varsity team. In 1974, he moved on to Northwestern University in Chicago where he spent 12 years as an assistant coach. After Northwestern, he spent two years at Fresno State as an assistant before being hired by the Chicago Express of the World Basketball League. With 10 games remaining in the 1988 WBL season, Perrin took over the head coaching duties and led the Express to the league championship.
Perrin and his wife, Patti, reside in Clarkston, Michigan with their two sons, Christopher and Andrew.
