Paul Millsap Has Successful Thumb Surgery
SALT LAKE CITY (May 23, 2008) – Utah Jazz forward Paul Millsap underwent successful left thumb surgery Thursday in Salt Lake City, Jazz general manager Kevin O’Connor announced today.
The procedure, which was performed by Dr. Steven Huish, consisted of repairing a torn ligament in Millsap’s left thumb. Millsap injured the thumb on May 16 during Game Six of the Western Conference Semifinals vs. the Los Angeles Lakers.
Millsap’s thumb will be placed in a cast for two weeks, at which time he will be re-evaluated and treatment for the following four weeks will be determined. Millsap is expected to be fully healed six weeks from now. Originally selected by the Jazz in the second round (47th overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft, Millsap has appeared in all 164 regular season games and all 29 playoff games in his first two seasons. He averaged 8.1 points and 5.6 rebounds in 20.8 minutes per game this season. |
