Just For Kicks: Deron Williams, Nike Blue Chip
If you’re looking for high-performance basketball shoes look no further than what Jazz guard Deron Williams goes to battle with every game, home and away. And the good news is, you’re not going to have to take out a loan to get them because according to Nike Field Representative for Professional Basketball Charles Terrell, “this shoe will sell for about 80 or 90 dollars. That is one thing that is really special about this shoe.”
Not only is it a very reasonably priced shoe, it also has many key features that make it an elite performance shoe as well. According to Nike’s website, the Blue Chip features “a visible heel Air Sole unit that provides maximum cushioning and comfort which helps protect your foot.”
Terrell also added that the shoe “has a lot of ankle support, it’s great for guys that move laterally a lot and there is a lot of cushioning and comfort that helps your feet to not get sore.”
It is not only a shoe for smaller guys who cut and move quickly around the floor however. It was designed to be a shoe that anyone can wear. From the point guard to the center, anyone on the court can wear this shoe and love it.
The fact that they perform well enough to satisfy one of the best young players in the game today says a lot about the Blue Chip and the service it provides. Deron Williams immediately fell in love with the shoes, and he will be at the center of a big campaign with Nike that highlights the sneaker.
When asked whether he had any input on the design of the shoe, Williams said, “I put on the colors that I like and gave a little input on the style and all that, but they put me in the shoe and they design it. They’ve got guys whose job is to design shoes so I just leave it to them and they always do a great job and I have always been very satisfied with Nike and their products.”
The shoes are already available at any sporting goods store and come in unlimited colors and styles, so they should be a big hit since they are a quality shoe with a practical price tag.
“They feel great, I love these shoes I’m playing in, and it should be a good year with these on my feet,” said Williams.
