Jazz to Host 2014 Mini-Camp in Salt Lake

Utah will hold camp from July 8-11 at Zions Bank Basketball Center prior to NBA Summer League 2014 in Las Vegas

SALT LAKE CITY (July 7, 2014) – The Utah Jazz today announced that Jazz players Trey Burke, Ian Clark, Rudy Gobert, Erik Murphy and Malcolm Thomas will join 2014 first-round draft picks Danté Exum and Rodney Hood in headlining the team’s four-day mini-camp in preparation for NBA Summer League 2014 in Las Vegas.  Two local college products, former University of Utah center Jason Washburn and ex-Weber State guard Nick Covington, are also scheduled to participate.  Camp is scheduled to open Tuesday, July 8 and will run through Friday, July 11 at Zions Bank Basketball Center, the Jazz’s practice facility in Salt Lake City.

The Jazz will conduct practices on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday before mini-camp wraps up with a practice Friday morning and the team then departs for Las Vegas.  

Jazz fans will have their first opportunity to see the squad when the team holds an open practice at EnergySolutions Arena on Thursday, July 10 at 7 p.m. MT.  The free event is open to the public (no tickets required), and doors will open at 6 p.m.  The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Jazz shirt featuring Exum and Hood.   

Following the mini-camp, the Jazz will depart for Las Vegas where the team will play three games in the preliminary round, beginning with the Philadelphia 76ers on July 12 at 8:30 p.m.  The Jazz is also scheduled to face the Milwaukee Bucks on July 14 at 8:30 p.m. and the Denver Nuggets on July 15 at 6:30 p.m. (all times MT).  Following the preliminary round, the teams will then be seeded in a tournament, which runs through July 21.  Each team is guaranteed to play at least five games.

All three preliminary games will be simulcast on KJZZ channel 14 for over the air, Dish and DirecTV subscribers and Comcast channels 3 (SD) and 657 (HD) as well as on The Zone Sports Network at 97.5 (KZNS FM), 1280 (KZNS AM), and 960 (KOVO AM).  Jazz broadcasters Craig Bolerjack and Ron Boone will provide play-by-play and analysis on both television and radio.
