Gordon Hayward Injury Update

SALT LAKE CITY (January 10, 2014) – The following is a medical update on Utah Jazz guard/forward Gordon Hayward:

Hayward was examined by the Utah Jazz medical staff and underwent an ultrasound on his left hip Friday in Salt Lake City. The scan confirmed that Hayward has a muscle strain in his left hip flexor.

Hayward will not play in tonight’s game vs. Cleveland and will be a game-time decision for Monday night’s game vs. Denver.

Hayward (6-8, 220, Butler) is one of three players who has appeared in all 37 games (all starts) for the Jazz this season, leading the team in scoring (17.1 ppg) and minutes (36.1 mpg), ranking second in assists (4.9 apg) and third in rebounding (5.4 rpg) – all averages are career highs. The 23-year-old Jazzman was originally selected by the Jazz in the first round (ninth overall selection) of the 2010 NBA Draft, and has appeared in 247 career games (139 starts) and owns averages of 11.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 27.0 minutes.
