“Larry
H. Miller and the Utah Jazz are ardent supporters of the Huntsman Cancer
Institute and are pleased to partner with American Family Insurance to
raise funds for breast cancer research” said Dennis Haslam, President
of Larry H. Miller Sports and Entertainment.
Women living in North
America have the highest rate of breast cancer in the world. At this time
there are slightly over 2 million breast cancer survivors in the United
States. Death rates from breast cancer have been declining. These decreases
are believed to be the result of early detection and improved treatment.
“We’re
excited to partner with the Utah Jazz to support the fight against breast
cancer,” said Betty Bergquist, Utah sales director for American
Family. “One in eight women will be afflicted by breast cancer at
some point in their lives; excluding cancers of the skin, it is the most
common cancer among women in the United States. Our goal is to sell at
least 5,000 caps, which would mean $75,000 for this very worthy cause.”
Caps are now available
online,
at local Fanzz Stores and participating American Family Insurance agents
in Utah. The campaign will also be promoted during “American Family
Insurance Night” on January 30th when the Jazz play the San Antonio
Spurs. Huntsman Cancer Foundation volunteers will sell caps on the main
concourse during the Jazz game that evening.
“We rely on
the generosity of the community to lend support to Huntsman Cancer Institute
and make research possible through much-needed dollars,” Lori Kun,
of Huntsman Cancer Foundation, said. “Companies like American Family
Insurance and the Utah Jazz who answer the call are great community partners
and we are so very grateful for their support. In the spirit of ‘everyone
can do something,’ fans can purchase the pink baseball hat and know
that their $15 goes directly toward cancer research.”
