The Jazz learned on Tuesday, November 20, that forward Bryon Russell could be out up to a month. Russell was placed on the injured list on Saturday, Novbember 17 with a strained left groin. Jazz officials learned tuesday that Russell has been diagonsed with an avulsion fracture from his pelvis, a seperation of the pelvic bone. Additionally the stress involved with the injury caused a separation of his pubic synthesis, a sprain of the joint where two bones meet.
Russell has played in 10 games for the Jazz this season and is averaging 7.3 points and 27.1 minutes per game. Russell has only missed six games since the 1996-97 season and is on the injured list for the first time in his career.

In a related move the Jazz have activated rookie Jarron Collins from the injured list who was placed on the injured list prior to the opening of the 2001-02 NBA season with a sprained left thumb. Collins, Utah's second round draft pick in the 2001 NBA draft, played in all eight preseason games and averaged 3.0 points and 13.4 minutes per game.
