Jazz Owner, Larry H. Miller, announced that the team will retire #32 in
honor of Karl Malone’s 18-year career with the Jazz. The retirement ceremony
will take place on Thursday, March 23 as the Jazz host the Washington
Wizards. In addition to the Jersey retirement, Larry H. Miller and Brian
Challis will unveil the Karl Malone bronze statue outside of the Delta
Center at 4:30 p.m.
“We are thrilled to announce that we will be retiring the jersey of one
of our heroes, Karl Malone, to hang in the rafters forever among those
whom we have already enshrined,” said Miller. “In addition to his excellence
on the court, Karl and his wife Kay also made great contributions to this
community with their time and financial commitments to many worthy organizations.”
After a 19-year Hall of Fame-caliber career spent almost entirely with
the Utah Jazz, Karl Malone announced his retirement on Sunday, February
