Utah Jazz Announces 2009-10 Regular Season Schedule
Jazz to open October 28 at Denver on ESPN; home opener October 30 vs. Clippers
SALT LAKE CITY (August 4, 2009) – The Utah Jazz announced today the team’s regular season schedule for the 2009-10 season. The Jazz will tip off the 2009-10 campaign at Northwest Division rival Denver on October 28 in a game that will be nationally televised by ESPN. Utah’s home opener comes two days later when the Jazz hosts the Los Angeles Clippers at EnergySolutions Arena on October 30.
The season opener at Denver will mark the second straight season the Jazz and Nuggets have faced each other in the season opener, and the fourth time overall. The Jazz defeated Denver in Salt Lake City, 98-94, on October 29, 2008 to tip off last season.
Utah is scheduled to appear on national television 21 times overall during the 2009-10 campaign, including five TNT broadcasts (11/5 vs. San Antonio, 11/26 vs. Chicago, 12/10 vs. Orlando, 1/14 vs. Cleveland and 3/4 at Phoenix), eight ESPN broadcasts (10/28 at Denver, 1/17 at Denver, 1/20 at San Antonio, 2/3 vs. Portland, 2/21 at Portland, 3/31 vs. Golden State, 4/2 at L.A. Lakers and 4/14 vs. Phoenix) and eight NBA TV broadcasts (11/2 vs. Houston, 12/7 vs. San Antonio, 1/2 vs. Denver, 1/27 at Portland, 2/27 at Houston, 3/10 at Detroit, 3/20 vs. New Orleans and 3/26 at Indiana).
The Jazz will play all Eastern Conference teams twice each and Western Conference teams four times each, with the exception of four Western Conference teams they will face just three times. The four teams include: Memphis and Sacramento (two home, one road), and Dallas and Golden State (one home, two road).
Utah’s schedule features 19 back-to-back sets (seven – away/home, seven – away/away, five – home/away), including the final two games of the regular season – playing at Golden State on April 13 before finishing at home vs. Phoenix on April 14 on ESPN in the NBA’s final regular season game.
The Jazz will face four road trips of at least four games, with the longest of the season coming during the team’s annual pre-Christmas road trip that this year will have the team playing five games in eight nights: at New Jersey (12/16), at Atlanta (12/18), at Charlotte (12/19), at Orlando (12/21) and at Miami (12/23).
Other games of note include two home games with the World Champion Lakers (12/12, 2/10), a Thanksgiving night home game vs. Chicago on TNT (11/26), hosting Philadelphia the day after Christmas (12/26) and a New Year’s Eve game in Oklahoma City (12/31). Dwight Howard and the Eastern Conference Champion Orlando Magic will make their only Utah appearance on December 10, while LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers visit the Jazz on January 14.
2009-10 season ticket packages are currently available for purchase. Mini-packages will be available for purchase beginning on Friday, August 14. Tickets can be purchased by calling (801) 355-DUNK or online at utahjazz.com. Single game tickets go on sale Monday, October 5 and can be purchased online at utahjazz.com or at EnergySolutions Arena.
