Deron Williams Earns All-NBA Honors

Jazz guard named to All-NBA Second Team.

SALT LAKE CITY (May 6, 2010) – Utah Jazz guard Deron Williams was named to the All-NBA Second Team the league announced today.

Williams, in his fifth NBA season, earned All-NBA Team honors for the second time in his career after averaging 18.7 points, 10.5 assists (third in NBA) and 4.0 rebounds (a career-high) while appearing in 76 games.  He also shot .469 from the floor and posted 44 double-doubles (seventh in NBA).  He was one of four NBA players to post 40+ points and 10 assists in a game in 2009-10 and just the fourth Jazz player ever to accomplish the feat.

The 6-3, 205-pound point guard dished 798 assists during the regular season, second most in the league.  He also finished second in the 2010 NBA Taco Bell Skills Challenge at NBA All-Star Weekend.

Williams returns to the All-NBA Second Team after a one-year hiatus, receiving the same honors in 2008. Forward Carlos Boozer was named to the All-NBA Third Team that same season.

The 2009-10 All-NBA First Team includes the L.A. Lakers’ Kobe Bryant, Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant, Orlando’s Dwight Howard, Cleveland’s LeBron James and Miami’s Dwyane Wade

In addition to Williams, the Second Team consists of Denver’s Carmelo Anthony, Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki and Phoenix’s Steve Nash and Amaré Stoudemire.

The Third Team includes San Antonio’s Tim Duncan, the L.A. Lakers’ Pau Gasol, Milwaukee’s Andrew Bogut, Atlanta’s Joe Johnson and Portland’s Brandon Roy.

Carlos Boozer received 33 voting points in this year’s All-NBA selection process.

The All-NBA Teams were chosen by a panel of 122 sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. The media voted for All-NBA First, Second and Third Teams by position with points awarded on a 5-3-1 basis.
