This Day in Jazz History - June 21, 1983

With the 7th pick of the 1983 draft, the Jazz selected Thurl Bailey from North Carolina State University. "Big T" was as consistent as they come during his nine seasons with the Jazz, averaging nearly 20 points per game from 1987-1989-as a sixth man. Bailey was one of the first modern day "sixth men" in terms of being good enough to start but coming off the bench to spark the second unit. He was the ultimate team player and didn't care about his stats or numbers; doing whatever the team needed hi to do. During his time with the Jazz he posted 16.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.2 blocks per game.
