"Houston was always our measuring stick. We hated losing to them but it was sort of a pre-requisite for improving," -John Stockton

The Jazz fell behind early in game five and mounted a furious comeback in the fourth quarter but it wasn't enough as they lost the 94-83, eliminating them from the playoffs. The Rockets proved too much for the Jazz as MVP and Defensive Player of the Year Hakeem Olajuwon finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds, seven blocks, six assists and four steals in the series-clincher. Karl Malone led the Jazz with 31 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists and Jeff Hornacek chipped in 21 points. The Rockets would go on to win the NBA Finals against the New York Knicks in seven games.
