Meet Kris Humphries

utahjazz.com: Where you surprised it was Utah?

Humphries: “I was excited. You know, I had a great time when I came in there and workout; felt comfortable there. So it wasn’t a shock but I was really excited.”

utahjazz.com: I guess the workout in you had last week went better a lot better than anyone realized?

Humphries: “You know, I just worked hard throughout the last year and, you know, throughout my basketball career, you know, it all came together for me this past week. So I’m really excited.”

utahjazz.com: Your coach put the tag on you being a young Karl Malone, how much of a burden is that going to be coming here?

Humphries: “Being compared to someone like that is a special thing, you know, Karl Malone is a great player---NBA Hall of Famer---I hope to be like him one day but I’ve got a long ways to go. I’m excited to start my career and have a long career in Utah.”

utahjazz.com: Was this something you expected that you were totally surprised by?

Humphries: “I was just so happy that that’s the only emotion I can give you, just joy and happiness. Going to a great team like that and being in the city of Utah in front of the great fans.”

utahjazz.com: Do you think your workout had something to do with it?

Humphries: “I think so. I had a great workout when I was down there. I had great conversations with the staff there, management. I think they also scout you and do all that stuff, there are a lot of things that factor in to someone selecting you. I’m just really excited to be here.”

utahjazz.com: Where you here long enough to get a feel for what the coaches are like and what it would be like to play for them?

Humphries: “Yeah. I followed Utah Jazz basketball for a long time. I’m a great fan of Coach Sloan, John Stockton, Karl Malone. I had a feel before I came in and felt even better when I left.”
