Hopes high for lottery teams despite dearth of Draft talent
All of them would prefer to have not qualified for the event, but the odds are that the 2011 NBA Draft lottery (8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN) will be the start of something big for at least one of the 12 teams on stage in Secaucus, N.J., on Tuesday.
For many of these teams, the trip to the swamps of Jersey is an annual rite. The Minnesota Timberwolves haven't been to the playoffs in seven years. The Toronto Raptors have tasted the postseason just twice in the last nine seasons. And the Golden State Warriors have made one playoff appearance in the last 17 seasons. But this lottery may be the one that (eventually) gets them out of their funk. [MORE]

NEW YORK -- Three ties among teams that finished the 2010-11 NBA regular season with identical records were broken April 15 through random drawings to help determine the order of selection for the 2011 NBA Draft, which will be held on Thursday, June 23 at The Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The drawings were conducted in New York City at the Board of Governors meeting by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.
The results of the drawings:
• Sacramento (24-58) won a tiebreaker with New Jersey.
• New Orleans (46-36) won a tiebreaker with Memphis.
• Dallas (57-25) won a tiebreaker with the Los Angeles Lakers
(note: the first three picks in the Draft will be determined by the lottery and the remainder of the "lottery teams" will select in positions 4 through 14 in inverse order of their consolidated standings at the end of the regular season)
