Catching up with Paul Millsap
by Aubrie Corey
As the Utah Jazz’s Public Relations intern it’s my job to keep up with the latest inside juice and drama. The past couple weeks have been crazy with all the sign and trades, which made me wonder what our veteran guys have been up to. Good thing Paul was in town for a photo shoot, sounds like his summer has been busy indeed.
How’s your summer time fun been?
Summer has been great. I’ve been able to spend time with my family, I went to watch my little brother play in the Vegas Summer League and I’ve been resting so I mean everything is looking good right now.
Did you take any vacations after the season ended?
I took my family out to Hawaii for about a week and then came back. It was lovely out there. It’s very pretty. I did a little paddle boarding and I tried to surf and catch a wave or two but I mostly just relaxed.

What’s your diet like during the offseason?
It fluctuates, it’s different. I try not to eat as much as I would during the season because I’m not working out as much. I just try and stick to the chicken and the low fat stuff.
What are you working on during the off season?
I’m just working on improving my overall game and my overall appearance on the court so I can get out there and help this team win games.
What were your thoughts about the Jazz bringing in Raja Bell and Al Jefferson?
I was excited. Our future looks really bright with guys who have All-Star potential coming to our team. And with Deron (Williams) running the show and making guys better, our team looks pretty good at this point.
What did you think of the Jazz drafting Gordon Haward?
Hayward is a good player. I watched him play a few games when he was at Butler. He’s a smart basketball player, he knows the game well and he can bring his IQ to this team and take our team to another level.
Any thoughts on the moves made this summer like the one’s in South Beach?
I was a little shocked when LeBron (James) made his decision. It seems like there’s a little cheating down there but I mean it is what it is. It could work out well for them but it could not. You never know which way it could go but as a player we have to come in and continue to do our jobs. Obviously, they have a target on their back just like the Lakers do but we’re gonna try our best to get to the top of the conference and the top of the league.
