Jocelyn's European Vacation

7/8/09
Hola!  Como estas? Muy bien gracias (pronounced graTHias…who knew?) That is a little of what I picked up in wonderful EUROPE!!!  That’s right, I just spent the last 11 days in Europe!! It was amazing! And I was lucky enough to go for the Jazz!!! We did stuff with Adidas and promoted the Jazz there as well! There were six dancers that went (Crystal, Deeann, Nicole, Brindie, Nikki and I,) plus our instructor, Jan!  We left June 18th and flew through the night! I have never been on a flight longer than 5 hours, so this was an adventure! And it was crazy because we left here Thursday, late afternoon and arrived there Friday afternoon! The time difference really did a number on me, that’s all I can say. The first few nights I had a really hard time sleeping, but then I was sleeping better than ever! Now that I am home….it’s a different story! I wake up every 2 hours, and can’t really fall asleep! When it is time to go to bed here, it is time to wake up in Europe! Jet lag sucks.

The first day we flew straight to Paris, and then to Athens, Greece. We went to our hotel, which was amazing!! We had to go through a little security to get in, and our room (my roommate was Nikki) was beautiful! We definitely had the best room (sorry girls…but its true.)  Our room was the farthest to get to so none of the girls came to our room so they didn’t get to see it. But we saw all of theirs…they would have been jealous! Haha. Anyway, We went and walked around the little shopping area that was right by our place, and then we went to dinner.  In Europe, dinner is around 10:30 pm, then they party until 6 am, wake up at 8, go to work, and then they close everything for the afternoon so that they can take a nap. After naptime, they work a few more hours, get ready for the night and do it all over again. Its crazy!

2009/10 Nu Skin Jazz Dancer Tryouts

My goal was to order something adventurous every night for dinner, something that I had no clue what it was, and just be brave! I definitely accomplished my goal! One night I ordered a dish called Moussaka and it wasn’t too bad! Interesting is a good word. Then…I witnessed a crime!! Nobody else saw it, but I saw a guy take a lady’s bag right off her chair! The lady had no clue.  It took me a while to register it but then we let them know and they ran after him. I don’t know if they caught him but I hope they did!

The next day we went to an Adidas 5 event.  Actually, everyday we did the Adidas event.  There were basketball games going on and we would dance in between, we all had a chance to judge the Slam Dunk contest, and then we’d dance some more! And not to brag, but over there we were pretty cool! Jazz fans here gotta show us some more love, cause over there it was mad love! Haha! It was so fun! We had a very good welcome everywhere we went!

One of the nights, we went to a club for dinner! It was beautiful! It was right along the water, and it was so nice! I had one of the locals order for me! He ordered some kind of fish that I have never heard of but it was actually very good! We danced until about 3:30am and we were all so tired, we were dying! We were ready to go home at 11 but that’s dinnertime!  When we were leaving, people where just showing up! I do not know how they do it! We had a wonderful time in Greece, but all things come to an end….So, off to London!!

We were only in London for 1 day.  Deeann and Crystal made a little appearance on a radio show, then we had the day off! We saw as much as we could see in the time that we had! It was cool to see all the stuff I have heard about! The shopping was great, the views were great, and the peoples’ accents were awesome! Ha!  However, it was very weird to have the drivers drive on the right side of the car and the cars drive on the left side of the street. After a long day of sight seeing, we ended it by going to see the musical, Jersey Boys! It was so good!  I knew more songs than I thought I would! After a long day, we went to a little pub, ordered some grub, then the next day it was off to Madrid, Spain!

When we got to Madrid, we did a little sight seeing as well. We only had half a day off, and we were all so tired we went to the pool and slept! It was a much different pool then American pools…but we kept our eyes closed most of the time anyway. Haha! Besides continuing with the Adidas events, we made an appearance at an Adidas store where they filmed a little commercial of us (its on youtube.  It’s great.) Another day, we were on the Spain version of So You Think You Can Dance+America’s Best Dance Crew+Real World.  It’s called Fama! Every week a dance group was voted off, they all lived in a house together, and there will only be one winner! We were the guest performers and it was awesome! The lights were going crazy when we were performing, the crowd (being the cast) where cheering so loud, the ENTIRE TIME..Im telling you, Jazz fans, you gotta step it up. Ha! It was awesome!

To sum it all up, every day we would wake up, work out(if we felt like it) get ready, go do whatever work they had arranged for us, go back to our hotel, get ready, go to dinner, then go to bed. But, it was such a good experience and I am so happy that I was able to be a part of it! I know you are probably wondering if there was any drama? Seven girls together all day every day for 11 days!  But, nope! The girls where all amazing, we never got sick of each other and we never had any problems! It was the best trip and I hope I can go back someday! It was unbelievable and unforgettable!

Now that the draft is over and tryouts are coming up in a month, I hope I will get to see you all next fall as the Jazz take on another great season! GO JAZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
