The Utah Jazz, United States Marine Corps and American Family Insurance will host a Toys for Tots drive at EnergySolutions Arena during two upcoming Jazz home games. Toys will be collected on Thursday, December 10, when the Jazz faces the Orlando Magic, and again on Saturday, December 12, when the team plays against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Courts in the Park
The Utah Jazz and Larry H. Miller Charities continue to collaborate with local cities on the construction of public outdoor basketball courts in Utah. To date, seven courts have been built along the Wasatch Front. This season, a court is being constructed at a new facility that was created to provide low-income housing to homeless individuals and families

Miller Charities will host their annual fundraising gala, Leapin’ Leaners & Low Tops, on Wednesday, March 18 at 6 p.m. Held on the EnergySolutionsArena basketball court, this unique event allows fans an opportunity to personally interact with Jazz players and coaches while raising money for charity.

Jr. Jazz - a legacy of youth basketball, 2008-09
Jr. Jazz, the longest-running youth basketball league in the NBA, has been shaping the face of local amateur sports since 1983. Beginning with only 7,133 participants, this popular program has grown to impact the lives of 50,000 to 60,000 youth annually.

Utah Jazz Players and Coaches Visit Local Hospitalized Children
Eyes lit up and smiles soon followed, as Jazz players walked down hallways, stopped by rooms and greeted children at bedside. Small basketballs were personally autographed as the athletes posed for photos and visited with patients and their families. Players at Shriners Hospital also met with patients in the children’s recreation area to shoot basketballs.

Utah Jazz Bear Takes Nearly 400 Kids Shopping for Christmas
The Utah Jazz mascot, Bear, will take children on a holiday shopping excursion in Lehi on Saturday, December 6, in Salt Lake City on Saturday, December 13 and in Manti on Friday, December 19. The event, sponsored by American Family Insurance, and Firemen & Friends for Kids, gives underprivileged youth the opportunity to purchase items for themselves and their families.

Korvers Coat Drive November 7th, 2008
Korver’s current humanitarian efforts are focused on providing winter coats to homeless and underprivileged individuals and families in the Salt Lake area. As part of that effort, Korver and the Utah Jazz will sponsor a coat drive at the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Utah Jazz game on Friday, November 7, 2008. Coats will be donated to the Utah Dream Center and Head Start.

1320 KFAN and the Utah Jazz will host a collection drive for the Utah Food Bank on Wednesday, October 22 at Karl Malone Toyota located at 11453 South Lone Peak Parkway in Draper, Utah. Fans donating a bag of non- perishable food will receive one complimentary Utah Jazz ticket for the October 23rd game versus the Portland Trailblazers.

KYLE KORVER SET TO ATTEMPT GUINNESS WORLD RECORD
Utah Jazz forward Kyle Korver will participate in a fundraiser on September 19 in an attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the longest kickball game ever played. The Kyle Korver Foundation is sponsoring the 25-hour kickball game marathon with the goal of raising $10,000 for the Helping Hand Rescue Mission in North Philadelphia. Korver, entering his sixth NBA season, has worked closely with the Mission and the underprivileged kids in the surrounding community for over two years.

Kyle Korver was in India for Basketball Without Borders
Early this week, NBA players including Kyle Korver (Utah Jazz), Ronny Turiaf (L.A. Lakers), Pat Garrity (Orlando Magic), and Linton Johnson (Phoenix Suns) as well as a team of NBA coaches arrived in New Delhi, India to participate in the NBA’s first event in India when Basketball without Borders Asia tips off at the American Embassy School of New Delhi July 3-6.

Over 2,500 dinners were served, as the arena opened its doors to Salt Lake City’s homeless.

The Utah Jazz and Larry H. Miller Charities collaborated with the city of West Jordan to build a new outdoor basketball court this past summer. The court is located at Veterans Memorial Park and is open year-round for public use.

Carlos Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko Recognize Jr. Jazz Good Sportsmanship Winners
This season, Jr. Jazz launched an initiative designed to recognize and reward kids, coaches and parents for examplary sportsmanship. Among the 60,000 youth participating in Jr. Jazz in Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, Idaho, Montana and Nevada, more than 1,100 kids and more than 2000 people were attended a party at EnergySolutions Arena on Monday, March 19 at 7 p.m. with Carlos Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko.

Leapin' Leaners & Low Tops 2007
The EnergySolutions Arena was alive with activity the night of March 6, as Utah Jazz coaches and players helped raise over $100,000 at Leapin’ Leaners & Low Tops, an annual fundraiser benefiting Larry H. Miller Charities. Jazz team members shot hoops, posed for photos, signed autographs and played a variety of games with guests, all against a backdrop of scenery that evoked images of New York City in the 1920s.

Fourteen northern Utah elementary schools received visits from Jazz players as part of the Be A Team Player - Read contest. Youth from Payson to Ogden read outside of normal school hours in hopes of receiving a visit from a Utah Jazz player.

Derek Fisher Brings and Early Christmas to the Kids at Shriners Intermountain Hospital
Christmas came early at Shriners Intermountain Hospital thanks to Utah Jazz guard, Derek Fisher. Five children who were at the facility over the holiday received a very special delivery from the famous basketball player.

Utah Jazz Visits Primary Children’s Medical Center and Shriners Intermountain Hospital
On December 6, 2006, the Utah Jazz brought an early Christmas gift to local hospitalized children and their families. All 14 Jazz players, accompanied by members of the Jazz coaching staff, spent the afternoon visiting patients at Primary Children’s Medical Center or Shriners Intermountain Hospital. Both hospitals specialize in pediatric care.

Salt Lake area residents “banked” on running into Utah Jazz players at several Zions Bank locations, as the franchise participated in its “Hit the Streets” fan outreach event. Fans lined up to meet Jazz team members at Zions Bank branches located in Centerville, Draper, Salt Lake City, Sandy and Sugarhouse. Players autographed photos, posed for snapshots and visited with Jazz fans ranging in age from toddlers to seniors.

The Utah Jazz and Larry H. Miller Charities partnered with Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation to build two outdoor basketball courts at the Redwood and Taylorsville City Recreation Centers. Jazz players Rafael Araujo, C.J. Miles and community representatives participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new court located at the Redwood Recreation Center in West Valley.

Read to Achieve is a year-round campaign to help young people develop a life-long love for reading and encourage adults to read regularly with children. Reaching an estimated 50 million children a year, Read to Achieve is the most extensive educational outreach initiative in the history of professional sports.
