No. 5: Bruce Bowen

Bowen’s story is remarkable. A player who had to find basketball work in Europe to begin his professional career after going undrafted, suffering as an NBA journey for his first four seasons, and somehow, ending up becoming a crucial cog for a team that won three NBA titles and finally seeing his jersey number retired with that team. Bowen was never an All-Star level talent or a highlight-reel scorer, but he was one of the fiercest perimeter defender of his time. As a Spur (2001-09), he was named to five All-Defensive First Teams and three All-Defensive Second Teams. He won three championships – 2001, 2003, and 2007 - before finally retiring from the game in 2009.
