The West was already looking more competitive than the East, but the injury to Russell Westbrook has truly blown it wide open. The Thunder have to adjust to a new reality post-Westbrook, and they have little time to find themselves as the rough-and-tough Grizzlies come hunting for them. It took a memorable 35-point, 15-rebound clutch performance by Kevin Durant to take Game 1 at home, but this is looking like a series that could go back and forth until the very end. Expect the Grizzlies to make the most of their size advantage and stretch this series to seven games. But in the end, the Thunder – who are blessed with the best player in the matchup in Durant – should be able to survive and advance ahead.
