David Lee went down in the Warriors’ first game of the playoffs, a loss to Nuggets. Lee’s absence added additional pressure on the Warriors’ supporting cast to step up and provide the offensive support to Stephen Curry. That support has come mainly in the form of Jarrett Jack and rookie Harrison Barnes. Barnes has especially upped the ante since, averaging 9.2 points and 4.1 rebounds a game in the regular season but improving those numbers to 16.7 points and 7.2 rebounds a game in Lee’s absence. The Warriors have been a rola since, upsetting the Nuggets and taking the highly-favoured Spurs to double overtime in a Game 1 loss. Barnes’ rapid improvement will play a big part if this team is hoping to continue surprising folks.
