David Robinson was already as accomplished as one could be in the league before Duncan’s arrival, winning several All-Star accolades, a scoring title, the MVP and the DPOY award. But he remained void of the ultimate prize, the NBA trophy, till the Spurs drafted Tim Duncan in 1997. The two 7-footers, Duncan and Robinson, became the league’s most dangerous inside force as the ‘Twin Towers’ combined to win two NBA titles together in 1999 and 2003. As Robinson’s career dwindled, Duncan’s began to shine as the younger tower would win multiple MVPs, and become a four-time champion, truly one of the game’s all time greats.
