The Celtics owned the late 50s and 60s, winning 11 championships in 13 years, and were much more than just a ‘big three’, they were a big everything. But we’ll focus on Russell, Cousy, and Havlicek here. Count the rings. Bill Russell was the centrepiece in all of them, but both Cousy and Havlicek served as exceptional deputies alongside him. Together, the threesome accumulated 25 rings! A lot of credit must also go to the surrounding cast of Sam Jones, Tom Heinsohn, KC Jones, Tom Sanders, and Frank Ramsey during these years. Cousy and Havlicek rarely played together, because as one’s time ended, the others was just beginning. But in 1963, all three were on the same team as the Celtics defeated the Lakers to win it all.
