Bobcats Welcome New Vice President of Corporate Partnerships
July 20, 2009

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment (BSE) President and Chief Operating Officer Fred Whitfield announced today the hiring of Michael Wandell as the organization’s new Vice President of Corporate Partnerships.

A former executive and top sales performer with the Phoenix Suns and Mercury and the Indiana Pacers, Wandell will be responsible for generating revenue through corporate partnership sales and renewals, and oversee the department dedicated to those tasks.

“Corporate partnerships are a critical piece of our business, and Michael has proven himself to be one of the best in the industry at identifying new revenue streams and building relationships that yield results for both team and partner,” said Whitfield. “Revenue generation continues to be our primary focus, and hiring Michael illustrates our commitment to bringing the best talent we can find to Charlotte to help us meet our goals."

During his tenure in Phoenix, Wandell made history when he signed LifeLock to a partnership that featured advertising space on the WNBA Mercury’s uniforms. Wandell also developed the first ever hybrid-marketing partnership in NBA history with Verve Energy Drink, and was the first to create a partnership between an NBA franchise and a major record label (Epic Records).

“This is a tremendous opportunity for me to work with a team that is clearly on the rise and ready to make a breakthrough both on and off the court,” said Wandell. “From a partnerships standpoint there is a lot to be excited about in Charlotte from the arena to the direction of the team, and I’m ready to get started.”

Wandell's first day with BSE will be July 27 and he will report directly to Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Peter Guelli.
