2009 Bobcats Training Camp to be Held in Charlotte

April 21, 2009

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment (BSE) President and Chief Operating Officer Fred Whitfield announced today the team will conduct all of its 2009 training camp at the Presbyterian Hospital Training Center located in Uptown Charlotte’s Time Warner Cable Arena, and will explore the possibility of combining summer league players with the rosters of other NBA teams.

The Bobcats had held training camp in Wilmington, North Carolina each of the past four years, and have participated in NBA summer leagues in Las Vegas and Orlando.

"Our past experience at the University of North Carolina – Wilmington has been nothing short of extraordinary, and we thank the athletic department and staff there for their tremendous hospitality in helping us get prepared for the rigors of the NBA season,” said Whitfield. “But in this difficult economic climate we recognize the overriding importance of managing every expense, and we believe we can prepare for the coming season more efficiently by potentially combining our summer league players with other teams and staying here in Charlotte for training camp, without sacrificing any of the competitive advantages we’ve enjoyed in the past.”

BSE is the parent company of the Charlotte Bobcats and operates the widely-acclaimed Time Warner Cable Arena located in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. The Bobcats just completed their fifth season as a member of the National Basketball Association with franchise records for wins in a season and home wins in a season.
