Sprite, Bobcats To Host Book Drive
Fans Encouraged to Bring New or Gently Used Books to Saturday’s Game

March 22, 2011

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment (BSE) President and Chief Operating Officer Fred Whitfield announced today the organization will host a book drive on Saturday, March 26 before the game against Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks. An extension of Sprite’s Blocks for Books Program, all books collected during the drive will be donated to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.

"As we showed during our Cats Care service projects earlier this month, education is an area we’re focused on and literacy is the cornerstone of that effort,” said Whitfield. “We’ve been working closely with Sprite to help put books in libraries, and we’re committed to finding more ways to create positive and lasting differences in this community.”

Book donors will receive a voucher good for a $5 upper level ticket to any regular season home game in the month of April, including matchups with the Orlando Magic on April 6 and the Atlanta Hawks on April 13.

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment operates the Charlotte Bobcats of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Time Warner Cable Arena. BSE is committed to helping meet the needs of the community through Cats Care, a year-round initiative aimed at making a difference in education, wellness and the fight against hunger.
