Regular Season Opens with Three Straight Home Games

The Charlotte Bobcats will open their 2011-12 season with three straight home games including the opener on Monday, Dec. 26 against the Milwaukee Bucks at Time Warner Cable Arena. The Bobcats will host the defending Eastern Conference Champion Miami Heat in their only visit to Charlotte, on Wednesday, Dec. 28 and the Orlando Magic on Friday, Dec. 30 to round out the opening slate of games. The 66-game schedule consists of 33 home and 33 road dates.

The schedule features several marquee matchups with the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics. Carmelo Anthony, Amar’e Stoudemire and the Knicks come to Charlotte on Tuesday, Jan. 24 and on Thursday, April 26 in a game airing nationally on TNT. Reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Derrick Rose and the Bulls arrive on Friday, Feb. 10 and Wednesday, April 18. The Celtics, with perennial All-Stars Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo, will visit the Queen City on Monday, March 26 and Sunday, April 15.

Former Davidson star and current Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry will lead his team to Time Warner Cable Arena on Saturday, Jan. 14, followed by another Saturday date with the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Blake Griffin and the L.A. Clippers on Feb. 11. NBA Defensive Player of the Year Dwight Howard and the Magic return to Charlotte on Tuesday, March 6.

The Bobcats will play 16 weekend home games, including eight on Friday, five on Saturday and three on Sunday, highlighted by a Feb. 10 (Friday) and Feb. 11 (Saturday) back-to-back with the Bulls and Clippers. Fifteen of the Bobcats final 24 games will be at home this season, including nine of their final 13.

All Monday-Saturday Bobcats home games will begin at 7:00 p.m., with the exception of the Jan. 16 Martin Luther King Day contest at 2:00 p.m. against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, Kyrie Irving. There will also be three 6:00 p.m. Sunday contests on March 4 against the New Jersey Nets, April 15 against the Celtics and April 22 against the Sacramento Kings.
