THE RESULT
With Boston’s “Big 3” all sitting out, Rajon Rondo came up big as the Celtics (36-25) were able to eventually pull away from the Bobcats (7-52) en route to a 94-82 win on April 15 at Time Warner Cable Arena.

TURNING POINTS
The Celtics, led by Rajon Rondo’s 12 points and seven assists in the first quarter, were able to get off to a fast start, taking a 34-23 lead after the first… The Bobcats responded though, outscoring the Celtics by eight in the second quarter to cut the gap to 52-49 at the half… The teams stayed close throughout the third quarter, with the Celtics holding a 73-67 entering the final frame… A Derrick Brown dunk brought the game to 78-74, but the Celtics responded with the game-clinching 10-2 run, capped by a Rondo layup.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Celtics shot the ball well from the field, connecting on 48.8 percent (39 of 80), while the Bobcats were only able to hit 40.5 percent (32 of 79)… Points in the paint continued to be a struggle for the Bobcats, where they were outscored 50-34 by the Celtics… The battle on the glass also went the way of the Celtics, with Boston outrebounding Charlotte 44-37… The Celtics had 10 blocked shots, with six of those coming from center Greg Stiemsma… Charlotte did a good job of handling the ball, only turning the ball over 12 times, compared to the Celtics’ 14 turnovers.

BOBCATS PLAYERS OF THE GAME
Gerald Henderson posted his second 20-point game against the Celtics this season, ending the contest with 22 points, five assists and three rebounds.

Derrick Brown continued his strong play of late, finishing the game with 15 points and seven rebounds.

CELTICS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Rajon Rondo pushed his streak of double-figure assist games to 22, finishing the game with 20 points, 16 assists and six rebounds

INSIDE THE LOCKER ROOM
"It was just one of those things where they really executed. They had guys that played together, and whenever you have (Rajon) Rondo out there he knows how to run a club."
- Bobcats Head Coach Paul Silas on the Celtics pulling away from the Bobcats

"You always know they’re going to be able to make plays, you’ve just got to get stops. That’s the biggest thing, because if you push the ball and you try to execute you might be able to score, but you’ve got to stop them from scoring or you’ll never (win)."
- Bobcats forward Gerald Henderson on the Celtics execution down the stretch

GAME NOTES
DJ White (13) was the only other Bobcats player to reach double figures, as he returned to the starting lineup… D.J. Augustin dished out 10 assists, marking his ninth time this season recording double figures… Newcomer Jamario Moon pulled down three rebounds in 13 minutes of playing time in his first game with the team
