THE RESULT
Byron Mullens scored 24 points on 9-of-16 shooting, including six threes to help lead Charlotte back from 16 points down before the Cats fell to the Suns 117-110 in the debut of Wednesday Night Basketball on October 7, 2012 at Time Warner Cable Arena®.

TURNING POINTS
After trailing by 16 points in the third, the Cats fought their way back on a 25-9 run to close the quarter and start the fourth, eventually tying the game 85-85 on a Tyrus Thomas baseline jumper... Shannon Brown literally could not miss in the fourth quarter, going 6-of-6 from behind the arc to counter any response from the Cats late in the contest.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Bobcats continued to struggle from the field in the first quarter, shooting only 32.0 percent (8 of 25)… They made up for the cold start by going 24 of 27 (88.9 percent) from the free-throw line and finished the game shooting 43.7 percent (38 of 87) from the field… The Cats saw double-figure scoring from five players, including Byron Mullens (24 points), Kemba Walker (17), Ramon Sessions (17), Ben Gordon (12) and Tyrus Thomas (10)… The Bobcats bench outscored the Suns bench, 53-38… For the Suns, Michael Beasley scored 16 of his 21 points in the first half and dominated the boards with 15 rebounds.

BOBCATS PLAYER OF THE GAME

SUNS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Shannon Brown could not be stopped by the tenacious Cats defense. The guard had a hot hand, sinking six 3-pointers and scoring 24 points to go with two assists and a steal.

INSIDE THE LOCKER ROOM
"In the second half, we gave an extraordinary effort. We kept pushing back and pushing back and again, for the development of our team, that’s a really positive sign."
- Bobcats Head Coach Mike Dunlap on the team’s character

"It was a tough start for us. Offensively we got some great looks early, but we just didn’t make shots. In the second half, we really started to move the ball and make some baskets. We just have to continue to move the ball early in the first half and not dig ourselves in deep holes like that."
- Bobcats Guard Kemba Walker on coming out strong

GAME NOTES
Rookie Jeffery Taylor started for the first time this season in place of Gerald Henderson (left foot sprain). Taylor played 10 minutes as Head Coach Mike Dunlap looked to Ramon Sessions and Ben Gordon to provide experience as the Cats battled back… Michael Kidd-Gilchrist played well, filling the stat sheet with nine points, three blocks, three assists and eight rebounds. MKG also scored a few vital buckets and converted on three-point plays during the Cats comeback… Kemba Walker added 17 points and eight assists.
