THE RESULT
The Bobcats had six players score in double figures as they faced off against the Jazz, but couldn’t overcome a double-digit deficit, eventually falling, 112-102, on January 9 at Time Warner Cable Arena®. Ben Gordon was hot off the bench for the Cats, finishing with 20 points, while rookie Michael-Kidd Gilchrist added 15.

Ramon Sessions did his best to keep the Cats close, leading the team at halftime with 11 points… The Cats had no answer for the Jazz’s Paul Millsap or Al Jefferson who had 15 and 12 points respectively, before halftime… The Cats fought hard in the second half and got it down to a 10-point game in the third quarter, but couldn’t seem to cut the deficit to single digits.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Bobcats outscored the Jazz in the second half, 58-49, but couldn’t complete the comeback… The Jazz finished the game shooting 53.7 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from long distance. Meanwhile, the Cats were above their season average, shooting 47.7 percent from the floor and 50.0 percent from 3-point territory… The Bobcats bench was efficient, outscoring the Jazz’s bench, 67-39… The Cats also beat the Jazz in points in the paint (50-36) and second-chance points (20-11)… Charlotte’s defense forced 17 Jazz turnovers while grabbing seven steals and turning away seven shots.

INSIDE THE LOCKER ROOM
“We talked about it at halftime. We knew obviously that we were struggling. It seemed like our energy was a little bit down today. We just wanted to come in and provide a spark and kind of get things going.”
- Bobcats guard Ben Gordon on giving the team a spark off the bench

“In the second quarter, we reeled them back in when Ben (Gordon) came in. He definitely was a plus. I think those two guys (Gordon and Kidd-Gilchrist) started it there. Then they continued it in the third quarter, both Gilchrist and Ben from an offensive perspective especially.”
- Bobcats Head Coach Mike Dunlap on Ben Gordon and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist helping the Bobcats get back in the game
