Charlotte Hornets, Bank of America to Honor U.S. Army First Sergeant Randy L. Moore as Sixth Yellow Ribbon Program Honoree of 2015-16 Season

March 18, 2016 – The Charlotte Hornets and Bank of America on Saturday will honor United States Army First Sergeant Randy L. Moore as this season’s sixth recipient of the season-long Yellow Ribbon Program. An initiative that honors veterans for their unwavering service to our country, the Yellow Ribbon Program recognizes military heroes during one Hornets’ home game per month. Recipients are honored prior to the national anthem and during an on-court presentation at halftime, and are given five tickets to the game for them and their family, along with a check for $1,000.  In addition, they are introduced to Charlotte Bridge Home, a local organization that seeks to help successfully transition retired soldiers from military to civilian life.

“As we recognize our sixth and final Yellow Ribbon Program honoree this season, we once again thank all members of the military, current and retired for their service to our country,” said Hornets Sports & Entertainment President & COO Fred Whitfield. “This program is one small way that we can show our appreciation for everything they have done and continue to do to keep us safe.”

First Sergeant Moore spent more than 20 years in the United States Army, primarily in Special Operations, including Joint Special Operations Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and the Joint Communications Unit, where he provided support to the U.S. Department of Defense and other civilian agencies.  He retired from active duty in late 2000 and is currently the Owner, President & CEO of RLM Communications Inc., a privately-owned Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that supports federal government and Department of Defense organizations providing government contracting support throughout the world.  Based in Spring Lake, North Carolina, the company has a staff of approximately 170 personnel – 85% of which are veterans or formally affiliated with the military – along with an internship program for military veterans and college students.  Recognizing First Sergeant Moore’s affinity to hire veterans, RLM was named AMVETS Corporate Employer of the Year in 2013 for employing the highest percentage of retired veterans in the small business (101-300 employees) category.

This season’s previous Yellow Ribbon Program honorees include United States Army Sergeant First Class Jeremy Hetrick, United States Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Horace E. Booker, United States Army Specialist Daniel Schugel, United States Army Captain Sara Yon and United States Army First Sergeant Ezekiel Ancrum Jr.
