Whitfield's HoopTee Charities Donates $50,000
November 10, 2013
HoopTee® Charities, Inc., donated $50,000 today to the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA in honor of the service of Fred W. Whitfield and Janol C. Whitfield to the YMCA and in recognition of the children impacted through the YMCA initiatives. Mr. and Mrs. Whitfield are the parents of HoopTee Charities, Inc. President, Bobcats Sports & Entertainment President & COO and Greensboro, NC, native Fred A. Whitfield.
“On behalf of my parents as well as HoopTee® Charities, Inc., it is an honor to make this contribution to the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA,” Whitfield said. “As a child, I enjoyed the outlet that the Hayes-Taylor YMCA provided for me and I grew up admiring the work and service of my parents. As I got older, I recognized how many children are supported because of those efforts. It is truly a blessing to give back to the YMCA that I grew up in and help them continue to provide resources to children throughout the community.”
In recognition of their donation and over 50 years of service, Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA Executive Director Larry Burnett announced the YMCA will name and dedicate one classroom in honor of Fred W. and Janol C. Whitfield.
“We are extremely happy that Fred has agreed to honor his mother and father by donating to our Capital Campaign,” Burnett said. “Janol and Fred W. Whitfield are longtime supporters of Hayes-Taylor YMCA and with this generous donation in their honor, we have now raised over $10 million towards our goal of $11.2 million. Contributions like this, will enable us to help both children and families in our community.”
