The Bobcats will host the season’s second Buzz City Night, which honors the heritage of the Charlotte Hornets. Saturday’s game will feature a Muggsy Bogues bobblehead giveaway for the first 10,000 fans in attendance. Buzz City Nights contain exclusive Hornets-themed fan giveaways, along with in-arena activations that celebrate the history of Hornets basketball in the Carolinas and special appearances by Hornets legends. The Bogues bobblehead is the first of a set of three commemorating a trio of original Hornets, along with Dell Curry (to be distributed on Saturday, February 8) and Kelly Tripucka (Saturday, March 22).
In addition, Bogues will be part of a Buzz City Flashback question-and-answer session with fans at 6:15 p.m. before the game in Lowe’s HomeCourt.
The shortest player in NBA history at 5-3, Bogues was selected by the Hornets in the 1988 NBA Expansion Draft and played for the team from 1988-97. A fan favorite during his 10 seasons in Charlotte, he remains the Hornets’ career leader in minutes played (19,778), assists (5,557) and steals (1,067).
The five Buzz City Nights are part of the Buzz City campaign, which includes the transition events, games and overall theme as the Bobcats re-brand to the Charlotte Hornets starting with the 2014-15 NBA season. The Buzz City campaign is driven by Mercedes-Benz.
