CHARLOTTE TAKES SEASON SERIES FROM ORLANDO
The Hornets dropped their first matchup of the season against Orlando in November, but bounced back to take the final three meetings, including two in their season-high seven game winning streak in late March. In the four games, Charlotte averaged 104.8 points and shot 48.1 percent from the field. Jamal Mashburn led the way for the Hornets with 24.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game. Baron Davis averaged a double-double with 18.8 points and 11.0 assists per contest. Mike Miller averaged 26.5 points and shot 11-of-16 from three-point land in two appearances against the Hornets. Tracy McGrady posted 22.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.3 steals for the Magic. Overall, Charlotte has won four of the last five and eight of their last 12 regular season meetings with the Magic.

Magic 109, Hornets 99
Tracy McGrady scored 24 points and set up Mike Miller and Pat Garrity to fire away from the outside as the Magic rolled to a 109-99 victory at the Charlotte Coliseum. Miller and Garrity each hit two three-pointers in the first quarter and McGrady scored eight points as Orlando raced to a 34-21 lead. The Magic opened the lead to 65-46 at the half and led by as many as 22 points in the third quarter. McGrady made 10-of-21 shots and added eight assists and seven rebounds. Miller and Garrity made five three-pointers each and scored 21 and 19, respectively. Baron Davis had 27 points and 10 assists and Elden Campbell added 23 points for the Hornets.

Hornets 103, Magic 101
Elden Campbell's follow dunk with 8.3 seconds remaining gave the Hornets a 103-101 victory in Orlando. The Magic had tied the game at 101 on a three-pointer by Darrell Armstrong with 30 seconds to go, but Campbell came through for Charlotte by hammering home Stacey Augmon's miss in the lane. On the final possession, Tracy McGrady was able to free himself for a 12-foot jumper that missed. Campbell had 23 points and 10 rebounds and Baron Davis added 18 points and 12 assists for Charlotte. Mike Miller drilled six three-pointers and scored 32 points and McGrady added 31 for the Magic.

Hornets 106, Magic 92
Jamal Mashburn scored 29 points to lead five players in double figures as the surging Hornets handed the Magic a 106-92 loss in Orlando. Charlotte led 36-31 when Tracy McGrady drove the left baseline and was sandwiched by George Lynch and Robert Traylor in a crushing collision. McGrady left the floor on a stretcher and did not return. Orlando hung around without McGrady, even building a 62-58 lead early in the third quarter, before a 13-0 run by the Hornets opened the game up for good. David Wesley scored 21 points, Baron Davis added 15 points and 13 assists and P.J. Brown had 14 points and 14 rebounds for Charlotte. Troy Hudson scored 23 points and Darrell Armstrong added 22 for the Magic.

Jamaal Magloire scored 21 points and Jamal Mashburn barely missed a triple-double with 20 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as the Hornets extended their season-high winning streak to seven games with a 111-104 victory over the Magic. Charlotte never trailed but was clinging to a 98-97 lead before David Wesley buried a three-pointer with 3:38 remaining. P.J. Brown added a jumper 52 seconds later for a six-point edge and the teams traded baskets before Mashburn nailed a game-clinching three-pointer to give the Hornets a 108-101 cushion with 33 seconds to go. Tracy McGrady had 25 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and five steals for the Magic. Troy Hudson also scored 25 points off the Orlando bench.
